Key Battles To Watch As Five AFCON Tickets Are Up For Grabs On Qualifying Series Final Day

19 countries have booked their place in the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon early next year
There are 10 more games to go on Wednesday, the final day of the qualifying series.
5 tickets are still up for grabs to complete the 24- nation roaster needed for the competition.

In Group E, apart from Morrocco that has qualified for the competition going into the group’s final game, all the remaining three teams are still in the running to book a place in the Africa Cup Of Nations Cup.

The central African Republic (4 points ) vs (6 points) Mauritania

A victory for the Central Africa Republic and a draw in the other group’s match between Morrocco and Burundi will secure a ticket for the Central Africa Republic.

For Mauritania to be in Cameroon all they need is to avoid defeat in their game against the Central African Republic.

For Burundi (5 points) to qualify, they need to defeat Morocco in Rabat, who is yet to lose any game in the series and pray the game between the Central African Republic to end in a draw.

Guinea Bissau (6 points) Vs Congo (8 points)

In Group I, it’s a winner takes all in clashes as Guinea Bissau hosts Congo. A win for either side takes the win to Cameroon while Congo will go through if the match ends in a draw as both go into last match with 6 points and 8 points respectively.

The other match in the group is between Senegal and Eswatini is a dead rubber as Senegal have booked a place in the competition while Eswatini is out.

Mozambique (4 Points) Vs Cape Verde ( 7 Points)

Mozambique is on a lifeline to qualify as their destiny to make it to Cameroon is in their hands.

To qualify all they need to do is to beat Cape Verde as high as five clear goals, and hope that it ended all squared between Cameroon and Rwanda because a victory for Rwanda guarantees a place for Rwanda in the competition.

Irrespective of what happened elsewhere, a draw will nick the ticket for Cape Verde after they defeat Cameroon by 3-1 last week to boost their chances of making it to the finals of the competition.

Sierra Leone (4 Points) Vs Benin Republic ( 7 Points)

With just a few seconds to picking a ticket for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, before Paul Onuachu struck in the 93rd minutes in Port Novo, Benin Republic are faced with elimination as they travel to Freetown in search of a point that will secure their place in Cameroon.

Sierra Leone needs two clear goals to beat the Benin Republic to the second ticket in the group as both sides go head to head today in one of the last matches of the qualifying round in group L.

Ivory Coast ( 10 Points ) Vs Ethiopia (9 Points) in Abidjan.

Ethiopia is on 9points, but it is not enough to guarantee a place yet, they need a draw to confirm a place in Cameroon as they travel to Abidjan to play Ivory Coast, the elephants have nothing at stake as they are have already qualified after matchday 5.

Madagascar ( 7Points ) Vs Niger Republic (3 Points)

While Niger has nothing to play for, Madagascar on 7 points will need to defeat Niger Republic and pray Ethiopia lose their game away to Ivory Coast.
