The Kaduna State Government was urged on Tuesday by the Interfaith Mediation Centre to educate students on how to defend themselves from kidnappers and other attacks.
The call was made in a communiqué signed by Pastor James Wuye and Iman Mohammed Ashafa, the center’s Co-Executive Directors, at the end of a “Forum on Peace Journalism” in Kaduna on Tuesday.
In addition, the communiqué emphasized the importance of parents, community leaders, and religious leaders collaborating with the government to fight kidnapping and banditry in the province.

It also urged the state government to recognize and involve the civilian joint task force, as well as prepare them to help security agencies deal with the problems.
It also noted the growing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) across the country, urging the government at all levels to provide humanitarian assistance to them, especially as the rainy season approaches.
The Kaduna state government was advised to be vigilant in providing protection to both public and private schools in order to protect students and teachers, according to the communiqué.
