Killings: CAN declare Jan 21 annual national prayer day
The Christian Association of Nigeria on Friday declared January 21 of every year as its day of national prayers for the persecuted Christians in the country.
The decision was taken in honour of the slain CAN Chairman in the Michika Local Government of Adamawa State, Rev Lawan Andimi, and other victims of Boko Haram and herdsmen attacks.
The resolution to honour Andimi, according to the President of CAN, Rev Samson Ayokunle, became imperative in honour of all the Christians being killed by Boko Haram, herdsmen, and the bandits nationwide.

A statement by the Special Assistant (Media and Communications) to the CAN President, Adebayo Oladeji, said Ayokunle called on the body of Christ in the country, especially denominational leaders to reflect the date in their annual calendar of activities.
The statement read in part, “The decision was taken on February 21 at the just-concluded meeting of the National Executive Committee at its National Secretariat in Abuja where they also confirmed Joseph Daramola as the substantive General Secretary and Biodun Sanyaolu as the Assistant General Secretary of CAN.”
