Eko hot blog reports that In a recent development from North Korea, the state has unveiled a new song showering praise on its leader, Kim Jong Un, portraying him as a “friendly father” and a “great leader.”
This move is believed to be part of a propaganda campaign aimed at bolstering Kim’s image within the secretive nation.
The song, titled “Friendly Father,” was showcased in a music video broadcasted on the state-controlled Korean Central Television on Wednesday.
The video features individuals from various walks of life in North Korea, including children, soldiers, and medical personnel, enthusiastically singing lines like “Let’s sing, Kim Jong Un the great leader” and “Let’s brag about Kim Jong Un, a friendly father.”
Accompanying the release of the song was a live performance, complete with an orchestra, which was watched by Kim himself.
This performance took place during a ceremony commemorating the construction of 10,000 new homes.
The Kim family, which has held power in North Korea since its establishment after World War II, has long relied on cultivating personality cults to maintain control.
This latest release of the upbeat anthem comes amidst other changes, such as the renaming of a public holiday.
Previously known as the “Day of the Sun,” which commemorated the birth of the country’s founder, Kim Il Sung, the holiday is now mostly referred to as the “April holiday” in state media.
Analysts speculate that these alterations are part of efforts to further solidify Kim Jong Un’s position.
An official from South Korea’s Unification Ministry suggested that these changes may signify Kim’s attempt to establish his own identity and authority independent of his predecessors.
This move could indicate a strategic shift in North Korea’s political landscape.
