King of Boys 2 – A Complete Game of Chess

• The much anticipated Nigerian movie in recent time “King of Boys 2” is out, and it is one of the rarest Nigerian movies that impressed audiences home and abroad.

EkohotBlog notes that for those who are more interested in politics and power play in a movie, Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys 2 satisfied their thirst and brought solid delivery to their doorstep. The cinematography leaves other Nigerian movies in the dust; we have to give Adetiba this one, it is hard to imagine that the story is fiction.

King of Boys

At first, many viewers didn’t like Eniola Salami’s newly developed “soft personality”, as there was general assent that a villain should continue as one; she should not have any business with being a hero. There was constant suspicion whether she was withering away due to old age and this got the audiences gnashing their teeth whenever she fails to re-establish her authority. It is very unusual of her to tame – as she exercises absolute power to wipe out her enemies with a single move. However, that was before she lost her two children; their death made her a different person with a new approach to issues and battles.

According to our observation, some Critics found it very difficult to fault Odogwu for his shifted loyalty. He needed protection and Eniola Salami couldn’t offer it; though Alhaja Salami no longer found him valuable and did not show any interest in keeping him by her side.

Some still blamed Eniola Salami for Odogwu Malay’s death. He had a master who was uninterested in protecting him and an enemy that was keen on destroying him, and a clueless, arrogant, and defrauded Odudubariba as an ally.

Emotions don’t run a business, Odogwu (Ill Bliss) deserved to die with a closer look at his role in the movie. He lured Makanaki into the shady deal that turned the table upside down, only to corner Makanaki later. He equally gave the throne away, he was an irrelevant piece on the chessboard, more importantly, he isolated himself which made him an easy target.

What Killed the Randles?

“Inexperience” did, they are skillful but inexperienced against an enemy like Eniola Salami. Jumoke Randle’s too much trust in her wits and intelligence led her to self-destruction.

Even Abraham Lincoln jumped out of a window during a congress session to prevent a quorum from being formed on an important decision. With his oratorical gift and such bizarre action, it is a pointer to the fact that politics is beyond fine English known with Tunde Randle. Without Aare’s intervention, we doubt if they could take Alhaja Salami on for that long.

A Clap for Ade Tiger?

The guy who played the perfect role of a Knight. The cavalry invades the enemy’s frontline and open space for offensive assault.

Unlike Odogwu, he knows his limits, is not overly ambitious and highly disciplined.

However, with sufficient reason, everyone is capable of betrayal. Maybe he hasn’t found that sufficient reason to betray or waiting to inherit the dynasty.

Is Akorede Makanaki (Reminisce) Still Dangerous?

With the right amount of power, every man is dangerous. He is always dangerous and he remains dangerous, or he’s now more dangerous than ever. He is not still a King. He is a Queen, almost as important as the King on the Chessboard. Almost!

The movie was a complete game of Chess from Kemi Adetiba. The cornering of Jumoke Randle and the Journalist was beautiful. It was a perfect checkmate, a very outstanding one deserving of an ovation.
