“There’s someone in Kirikiri who was accused of stealing a generator, and the person who bought it is also in prison. Both of them have been there since 1999. Calculate the years,” Seaking explained in Pidgin English, expressing disbelief at the injustice.
He questioned why the buyer of the stolen generator was imprisoned for 26 years alongside the alleged thief, highlighting the harsh realities faced by the underprivileged in Nigeria’s justice system.
Seaking further lamented the socio-economic disparity within the prison, stating, “Poor Nigerians are the ones in Kirikiri. When I entered, I saw only poor and voiceless people there.”
The TikToker’s revelations have sparked discussions online about the need for justice system reforms and the plight of those unable to afford legal defense.
