Residents of KLM Housing Estate gathered on Saturday for a special three-in-one event: the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the inauguration of new executives, and an awards ceremony to honor individuals who have contributed to the estate’s development.
Ekohotblog gathers that the President of the Estate, Mr. Ganiu Olakunle, described the event as a historic moment and a reflection of the progress the estate has made under his leadership.
“This meeting has been long overdue because this is the first time we are having such an event. Before my tenure, there were many unresolved issues, but I decided to take the lead in solving them.
By God’s grace, and with teamwork, we were able to resolve these problems. What we see here today shows how much we have achieved,” he said.
Mr. Olakunle shared the successes of his administration, highlighting the improvements in security, infrastructure, and financial management.
“Before we came into office, the estate fence was in poor condition, but now we can proudly say our estate is 100% secure.
The roads now have solar-powered streetlights, making the estate as bright as daytime at night.
These achievements were made possible with the support of our residents,” he explained.
He also spoke about the financial changes his administration brought to the estate.
“We have been very transparent with money. Payments are made directly to the estate’s account, and there is no room for fraud.
When we came into office, there was less than one million naira in the account, and we had to borrow money to pay security workers. Today, we have over six million naira and no debt,” he added.
The awards ceremony recognized residents and leaders who have greatly impacted the estate.
Mr. Olakunle praised their efforts, particularly in improving security and infrastructure.
“The awards are for those who have truly contributed to the growth of this estate.
For example, the bright streetlights and the strong security we enjoy today are part of their efforts.
We appreciate them and encourage them to continue,” he said.
He also noted that during the last estate election, no one contested against him and his team because residents saw their hard work and sacrifices.
“We are not in this position to make money. In fact, we add our personal resources to improve the estate.
If this role was about making money, people would fight for the position,” he said.
Mr. Olakunle thanked the residents and supporters, urging everyone to keep working together to make the estate better.
