Kogi State Government has expressed commitment to supporting the on going week-long free medical and surgical outreach organized by Odumehaje Christian Medical Mission, OCMM in partnership with Raymond Akor Memorial Foundation, RAMF at Olamaboro LGA.
Acting Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government area Mr. Ameh Demian stated this when he visited the outreach center at the Agaliga Primary School.
He said providing health care services was one cardinal point of government responsibility and applauded the groups for a job weldone.
Ameh while expressing satisfaction and happiness with the development said, he would leave no stone unturned toward ensuring that the news is conveyed to the Governor for swift action.

Responding, the Co-Chairman and CEO, OCMM Dr. Paul A. Odumu explained that the NGO had for over 22 years offered various health Interventions to various rural communities across the country such as general Consultations, laboratory services, surgeries, education and health talks among others.
According to the team lead of the outreach and Consultant Family Physician, the Organization had never received any grant from the government, saying it had only been funded from the personal pocket, members of its board of trustees, churches and well spirited individuals and partners across the country.

He said the on going week-long medical outreach and surgical missions was in partnership with Raymond Akor Memorial Foundation to Mark the one year anniversary of Late Raymond Akor and CEO of the foundation who died last year and left his huge mission unaccomplished.
He Commended the family of the late hero for their doggedness and for making the outreach possible by donating drugs and finance alongside other pharmaceutical companies as well as professional friends who also assisted via cash donations.
Dr. Paul Odumu said the medical outreach had so far witnessed not fewer than two hundred Surgeries from hydroceles, hernias, ruptured appendix, scrotal and congenital complications in children.
“Including dental Surgeries of different kinds alongside treatment of diabetes, hypertension, malaria/ typhoid among others, which had sum up to over six hundred people been attended to”.
” The medical cases here are much that we cannot finish tackling them within just a week, if the state government will assist us with finances and man- power as you said, then we will need serious collaboration with the ministry of health during the second phase of the outreach”.
” The financial value for the week- long free medical outreach and surgical missions is within 10 million naira and above, as it’s include the hotel bills of the volunteers and renovation of the primary health care center”.
He said, inview of the demand of the people coupled with limited time and facilities at hand for effective health coverage, the organization is planning a collaboration with the community and Raymond Akor Memorial Foundation to establishing a well equipped secondary level hospital with a community-based health insurance scheme that would be cheap and accessible to the people.
