Amari, who is the current State Chairman of the Medical and Health Worker Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), took over from Comrade Onuh Edoka, whose tenure came to an end on the same day.
In his acceptance speech, Amari expressed his trust in God to lead the affairs of the union in Kogi State to greater heights.
Gabriel Amari promised to prioritize the welfare of Kogi workers and acknowledged the significant impact made by the immediate past Chairman during his two tenures in office.
The new NLC Chairman also promised not to disappoint Kogi workers in their struggle for greatness in the state. He emphasized that he will apply diplomacy and dialogue in getting all the demands of workers from the State Government.
Amari, in his maiden speech as NLC Chairman, lamented the poor salaries of local government and primary school teachers in the state. He noted that some government appointees have continued to frustrate the union from interfacing with the state government to address the issues.
The new NLC Chairman also appealed to the state government to always organize quarterly meetings with the labour union and not wait until there is a crisis.
He, however, appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello to urgently appoint the immediate past Chairman, Onuh Edoka, as a special adviser on Labour matters in recognition of his numerous contributions towards the plight of Kogi workers.
