‘No Probe Against Kwankwaso’ – Aide Asks Nigerians To Ignore ‘NNPP Renegades’
A Kwankwaso aide has asked Nigerians to ignore alleged NNPP renegades claiming there is a probe against the former presidential candidate.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Mal. Abdulmalik Suleiman, one of the aides to the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has debunked reports in a section of the media suggesting that his principal is under probe by the anti-graft agency, the Economic Financial and other Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Rather, Suleiman who warned the public against the antics of some expelled leaders of the party said a court order cited in the reports was served on the NNPP as a party and not Kwankwaso.
Pointedly, the former Kano governor spokesperson stated that his principal was not remotely or directly connected with the management of the funds that accrued to the NNPP before, during and after the election.
The media had been agog with the reports suggesting a probe of Kwankwaso with regards to how he has managed over N2 billion being campaign expenses.
Reacting to the claims, Suleiman absolved his principal (Kwankwaso), the NNPP and the leadership of the party of any wrongdoing with regards to how campaign funds were utilized during the last election.
He however blamed some suspended leaders such as former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and few others as being behind the smear campaign in the media space.
The Kwankwaso aide further stated that the expelled members were doing so not only to embarrass the party but to also mislead the unsuspecting members of the public.
“My leader and the entire leadership of the party has been made aware of a court paper circulating in the media space, which has been feasted upon by a session of the media who have failed to find out the correct situation of things with regards happenings within the party,” Suleiman said.
“The media had even gone further to side step the real issues in the court summon which in itself is borne out of gross mischief to paint the party and our esteemed leader, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in bad light in the eyes of the unsuspecting public.
“The stories which is rather unfortunate considering the fact that they don’t contain facts with regards to the case is being sponsored by discredited former members who are looking for any kind of opportunity to cast aspersion on the party and it’s leadership, which has failed ab initio.”
Stating the fact of the case, the spokesperson said some shadowy people who are not known to the party had sued the party and some leaders, alleging the fact that some phantom campaign funds are yet to be accounted for since the last general election and that the money in their warped opinion had been diverted.
“Sen. Kwankwaso was not the main party to the suit, some of these characters just joined him in the suit but the unsuspecting media lashed on to the antics of these elements to make him the main subject of the litigation,” Suleiman added.
“While I will not speak for the party as the party has enough capable hands to do that for it, I will like to use this opportunity to state that the finances of the party are very transparent enough for all to see.
“In fact, should any of these litigants feel obliged to see them, they will be made available to them.”
