Eko Hot Blog reports that Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reportedly summoned an emergency security meeting at the Government House.
The summon comes as votes are being counted in polling units across the state.
Observers have described the Kwara governorship election as a two-horse race between the incumbent governor, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Abdullah Yaman, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
A source, who spoke with Eko Hot Blog, alleged that the meeting at the Government House may involve plans to influence the outcome of the election as the PDP is leading, according to early results.
The early results are said to have unsettled the ruling party.
Prior to the elections, several stakeholders in the PDP defected to the APC.
Gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) also stepped down for AbdulRazaq.
