- Kwara state government disengages waste management contractors

Ekohotblog reports that the Kwara state government has terminated its agreement with social waste contractors for failing to meet with the state government’s expectation.
The state government while reiterating it’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its citizens, affirmed that the erstwhile contractors were ineffective in keeping to their terms of engagement.

A call for applications has also been announced for those interested in filling up the vacant position this decision has caused.
According to a press release by the commissioner for environment, Mrs Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe, the state government wrote:
“The Kwara State Government hereby announces the termination of the engagement of the State Social Waste Contractors, due to the inability to meet the relevant Service Level Agreements.
The wellbeing of the good people of Kwara remains paramount to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, hence we will be leaving no stone unturned to ensure a more hygienic environment for all and sundry.
On this note, the Ministry of Environment hereby invites Submission of Interest from the general public for the vacancies created.
