Dr. Yaqub, a lecturer at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, passed away in his sleep on Monday morning, leaving his family members, colleagues, and friends in deep sorrow.
Dr. Yaqub was serving as the Acting Director of Sports and the Head of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education at KWASU at the time of his death. He was a renowned scholar and a mentor to many students and young academics in the state.

Speaking about his untimely death, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi, described Dr. Yaqub as a “dedicated and hardworking member of staff who had a passion for his work and was always willing to help others.”
According to reports, Dr. Yaqub passed away at his Ilorin apartment in the early hours of Monday. His family members, colleagues, and friends have been left reeling from the shock of his sudden demise.
The funeral prayer (Salatul Janazah) for Dr. Yaqub was held earlier today in Budo-Egba, Asa LGA, Kwara State. Many people attended the funeral to pay their respects and bid farewell to the beloved academic.
