Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has claimed that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has largely kept the pledges it made to voters during the 2019 election.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor said the administration was a light-year ahead of its predecessors in meeting the basic needs of the populace and repositioning Kwara for sustainable growth while speaking at the official re-election campaign flag-off for House of Representatives member, Hon Tunji Olawuyi, in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

In his speech, AbdulRazaq compared the Peoples Democratic Party’s attempt to retake power in the state to a tenant who defecated in a rental home and then insisted on moving back in after the mess had been meticulously cleaned up.

“They want to take us backward. No, we have moved on to Kwara. Is it in education, water, workers’ welfare, rural-urban development, or health? What was their record to deserve a comeback?” he queried, citing the records of the incumbent administration.

According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, his Chief Press Secretary, AbdulRazaq asked the people to vote overwhelmingly for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

AbdulRazaq told the gathering on Friday in Omu-Aran that the return of Olawuyi (Ajulo-Opin) to the House of Representatives for the third term will make him a ranking member and qualify him for the position of the Speaker of the National Assembly.

“It is important that we vote and return Hon. Olawuyi to the Green Chamber for the third term, so that he can become one of the ranking members. This will qualify him to become the House Speaker. There are various benefits that will come to Kwara if we vote for him to attain that height,” he said.

He said the government would execute more infrastructural projects in the federal constituency, including the completion of the rehabilitation of Omu-Aran Water Work to improve people’s access to potable water.

The governor had earlier visited the palace of Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, where he mentioned various projects of the administration in the town.

He also said the construction of the road leading to the palace would be approved shortly.

AbdulRazaq told the monarch that a discussion was in progress with the African Development Bank and Federal Government to fix the federal road in Omu-Aran.

The highlight of the event was the official presentation of APC’s flag to Hon. Ajulo-Opin as flagbearer for Isin, Ekiti, Irepodun, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election.
