Eko Hot Blog reports that Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Lagos Central, Adesunbo Onitiri, has endorsed the reelection bid of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Onitiri made the endorsement at the Lagos Central Senatorial District Leadership Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
He also announced his defection to the APC at the event, dumping the Labour Party and its governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
In November 2022, Onitiri had described returning the APC to power as a “second affliction.”
“Many politicians are now on the prowl to deceive Nigerian voters with all kinds of promises, both realistic and unrealistic.
“Will Nigerians allow themselves to be deceived again? God forbid a second affliction on this blessed country. The rescue mission is firmly in our hands,” he said at the time.
Meanwhile, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ade Dosunmu, also attended the forum.
He joined Onitiri in backing Sanwo-Olu’s reelection bid and joining the APC.
Dosunmu had left the PDP in May 2022 and joined the Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) after he lost the former’s governorship ticket.
Sanwo-Olu, the APC governorship candidate, is fighting to retain his seat as Lagos governor for the next four years in the March 18 governorship election.
