Ekohotblog reports that on September 14, 2024, the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos marked the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with a special Holy Mass at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Lagos.
The occasion also featured the investiture of Papal Knights and Medalists, honoring five distinguished individuals, including Lady Christine ‘Doja Otedola, and recognizing the contributions of Augustine University.

Lady Doja Otedola, a prominent benefactor and mother of the Chancellor of Augustine University, received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal.
This prestigious honor, granted by Pope Francis, celebrates her exceptional dedication and service to the Church and community.
The ceremony also honored Sir Walter Akpani, a benefactor and husband of a member of Augustine University’s Governing Council, with the title of Knight of St. Sylvester.
Sir Peter Amangbo, a member of the University’s Governing Council, was conferred the title of Knight of St. Gregory, and Sir Peter Nwanze, also on the Governing Council, was invested as a Knight of St. Sylvester.
The Mass was celebrated by His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of Lagos, who praised the honorees for their unwavering commitment to the Church and their impactful contributions to society.
He noted that these honors not only recognize their past achievements but also serve as a call to continued service and defense of the faith.
The ceremony was attended by priests, family, friends, and members of the Augustine University community.
It concluded with a thanksgiving service, during which Archbishop Martins prayed for God’s blessings on the honorees as they take on their new roles in service to the Church.
