Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), destroyed ₦5 million worth of seized Styrofoam packs in the Epe area of the state.
This exercise marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to eradicate the sales, usage, and distribution of banned Styrofoam and single-use plastics in the state.
Corps Marshal of the Agency, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (rtd), emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental pollution, stating, “We are more than committed to reducing environmental infractions to the barest minimum.”
He urged market traders to cease selling and buying banned Styrofoam packs and warned against converting public spaces into sale points.
