Lagos State Government on Sunday announced an adjustment in the earlier days slated for the closure of the level crossing at Ilupeju, Ogunmokun, Jibowu, and Yaba for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway project.
Recall that the closure which was supposed to begin on Sunday through Wednesday, has been slightly adjusted.
A statement by the Assistant Press Officer in the Ministry of Transportation, Bolanle Ogunlola, said “the closure will now begin on Monday, November 16, with the Ilupeju level crossing closure, Ogunmokun level crossing will follow suit tomorrow, while Jibowu and Yaba level crossing will be shut down on Wednesday. The time for the shut downs remains 8pm to 7am each day.
“Motorists are advised to make use of the alternative routes earlier provided for the daily closure.
“Those plying Ilupeju level crossing are advised to use Ogunmokun, Yaba and Jibowu crossing to access their destinations. Also, those who are to access Ogunmokun Road or access other areas from Ogunmokun are to use Ilupeju crossing to Mushin, Oshodi and Surulere for their destinations.
“The identified alternative routes will still be used interchangeably to ease movement, while the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel will be on ground to control traffic during the construction.”
The statement also said the closure has been slated for night to minimise inconveniences in movement.
Motorists are implored to comply with the traffic directions put in place to aid the smooth and uninterrupted flow of the construction schedule.
