The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted peace and reconciliation committees in the three senatorial districts in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, who said the essence of setting up the committee is to engender peace, unity and cohesion in the party.
He further said that the committees will be inaugurated on Friday July 2nd at the party Secretariat located at Acme Street, Ogba.
The statement reads: “In order to engender cohesion, peace and unity in our party, the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted peace and reconciliation committees to meet with party leaders, aspirants, members and other relevant stakeholders in the state over issues emanating from the last local government primary elections.”
The constitution of the peace and reconciliation committees by the state chapter of the party may not be unconnected with lingering dissatisfaction nurtured by some of its candidates who vied to emerge as the party’s flagbearers in the just concluded Local Government election primaries.
Eko Hot Blog had reported earlier that the ruling party’s primaries conducted on May 29, 2021 was grossly marred by violence and irregularities, a development which caused enmity between different factions within the party.
In the wake of the imbroglio, the party leadership had expressed regrets at “cases of skirmishes” which characterised the party’s local government election primaries in some parts of the state on May 20.
The membership of the committees are as listed here under ;
