Lagos Bans Street Parties, Carnivals Amid Surge In COVID-19 Cases

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has proscribed street parties and carnivals in the state over upsurge in COVID-19 cases.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the proscription of the activities is contained in a statement on Friday evening.

There has been an increase in COVID-19 cases across the country. On Thursday, Nigeria recorded over 1,000 new cases of the disease, out of which Lagos had 450 infections.

December, a yuletide season, is known to be a boisterous and fun-filled month in Lagos as many residents relieve year long stress with variety of lively and social activities organised by individuals and government.

With the development, Lagos fiesta, a musical concert organised by Lagos State government and held every year, might not take place this year.
