Eko Hot Blog reports that operatives of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Nigeria have arrested one Abayomi Segun Oluwasesan, who allegedly hacked his company’s blockchain account and made away with billions of Naira.
According to Instablog9ja, the suspect, who was working at Afriq Arbitrage System, a global crypto space, was arrested earlier in the week alongside his accomplice.
It was gathered that Abayomi, who was employed by the company on June 15, 2022 to work as a web developer, hacked the platform at a time when his boss, Jesam Micheal went for a liver transplant and entrusted the codes to him.
Abayomi, who was entrusted with the sensitive data for the smooth operations of the company, engaged the services of his cohorts, disrupting the smooth operations of the platform and stealing hard-earned investors’ money running into several billions.
Anayomi, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, allegedly withdrew a staggering sum of at least $87 million. He used this money to indulge in various luxurious endeavors.
Notably, he established Fidoray Autos, a high-end car dealership, where he imported more than 30 exotic vehicles. Furthermore, he acquired residences and obtained residence permits in the United Kingdom, Tanzania, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Reports suggest that he spent a staggering N450 million on one of the plazas he acquired in Lagos. In addition, he invested approximately N1 billion in landed properties around the Dangote refinery and dedicated another 1 billion naira towards the interior decoration of his hotel in Mainland, Lagos State.
Abayomi also embarked on lavish international travels using investors’ funds, purchasing first-class tickets.
Unfortunately, his dubious activities eventually led to the downfall of the once prosperous platform on May 15, 2023
