Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a move aimed at empowering students and fostering a conducive learning environment, the Lagos State government has announced an increase in scholarship and bursary funds for students of Lagos State origin in tertiary institutions.
Additionally, scholarships will now be extended to less privileged and physically challenged students in public tertiary institutions, regardless of their origin.
This announcement was made by Sanwo-Olu during an interactive session with student union leaders and stakeholders in Lagos State.
Highlighting the importance of youth development, Sanwo-Olu stated, “As part of my commitment to youth development, I have also appointed four former Students Union leaders as senior special assistants.”
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the significance of constructive engagement with students to gather feedback and suggestions, with the aim of enhancing infrastructure in public institutions and creating a conducive environment for learning and growth.

Furthermore, Sanwo-Olu stressed the crucial role of building a strong relationship between students, universities, and the government for a sustainable ecosystem and positive development.

The increased financial support for students and the appointment of former student union leaders as senior special assistants demonstrate the Lagos State government’s commitment to prioritizing education and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages student participation and growth.
