Eko Hot Blog reports that a momentous milestone was marked in Lagos’ entertainment landscape today with the groundbreaking of ‘The Lagos Arena’ at the Palms Mall in Lekki.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presided over the ceremony, signaling the start of construction on the state-of-the-art 12,000 capacity arena.
“Inspired by global standards, this purpose-built marvel will elevate Lagos to the forefront of the global events space,” said Governor Sanwo-Olu in a Facebook post. “The Lagos Arena is not just a building; it’s a beacon of possibilities for our entertainment industry and is setting the stage for world-class entertainment.”
With a completion timeline set for December 2025, The Lagos Arena aims to bring premier international concerts, shows and sporting events to the city. According to the Governor, the arena takes inspiration from iconic venues worldwide but will also distinguish itself as a jewel in Nigeria’s crown.
“The aim is to bring Lagos up to par with its global peers, making it a go-to destination for premier international events,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.
The 12,000-seat capacity will make The Lagos Arena Nigeria’s largest indoor entertainment venue. Industry stakeholders have welcomed the project as a major boost to Lagos’ aspirations of becoming a global entertainment capital.
