LASEMA confirms three construction workers dead and two rescued following a building collapse in Arowojobe Estate, Lagos.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of three construction workers following a building collapse in Arowojobe Estate, Maryland. Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, reported the incident in a statement on Thursday morning.
The collapse occurred at No. 13, Wilson Mba St., Arowojobe Estate, Maryland, Lagos. The three deceased individuals, all male site workers, were identified at the scene. LASEMA received a distress call about the collapse at 3:49 a.m., prompting their response team to arrive by 3:58 a.m.
The collapse involved a set of three terraces under construction. Search and rescue operations led to the recovery of three dead males, two survivors, and one additional male who was rescued from under the rubble. The rescue efforts were conducted by LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service.
“All the six men were site workers. They are receiving pre hospital care on location while the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit has been contacted for the remains of the three fatalities.
“A combined team of agency personnel, fire service and Nigeria Police are working at the scene.
“LASEMA’s excavator has been deployed to accelerate the search and rescue operations,” the LASEMA official noted in the statement.
