Lagos Celebrates Cultural Diversity At Popo Aguda Easter Extravaganza

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has commended the initiators of the annual Popo Aguda Easter Arts and Music Concert Extravaganza for fostering cultural interactions and promoting the spirit of Easter, while also showcasing Lagos as a culturally diverse mega-city.

At the third edition of the event held at the Campos Mini-Stadium on Lagos Island over the weekend, Hon. Solomon Bonu, the Chairman of Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Mr. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, expressed the government’s dedication to supporting cultural initiatives, anticipating even grander celebrations in the future.

Speaking at the event organized by the Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association Lagos, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Bonu said, “The government’s dedication to supporting cultural initiatives, anticipating even grander celebrations in the future.”

On his part, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture affirmed, “The festival is a unique way of encouraging and promoting interactions among residents during the Easter period, being a season that signifies love, sacrifice and tolerance.”

Aregbe implored the Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association Lagos to ensure that the annual celebrations continue to promote the rich cultural heritage of the State and the Brazilian community. He averred, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to the promotion and marketing of the State’s potential in tourism through the display of rich cultural heritage by supporting Cultural Festivals and music Fiestas.”

“Lagos State Government will continually support the entertainment industry and events as this that promotes local culture, heritage and interactions with one another,” the Special Adviser stated.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Third Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association, Rear Admiral Anthony Okanlawon Oni (Rtd.), underscored the festival’s significance as a cornerstone of community development. He thanked the state government and the First Lady, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for the continuous support accorded to the Association.
