EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) has secured the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) approval to run National Diploma Programmes beginning from the 2021/2022 session.
This was disclosed via a statement issued by the Provost of the Lagos State Cooperative College, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, on Tuesday.
The Provost sated that the approval was contained in a letter signed by Mal. Sama’ila Tanko, the Acting Director, Monotechnic Programmes Department on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NBTE.
Ojomu added that the Accreditation Inspection Committee of NBTE had earlier visited the College in September 2021 to carry out an assessment of programmes and facilities at the institution towards determining its ability to run National Diploma programmes in Co-operative Economics and Management as well as Micro Finance and Enterprise Development.

He explained that the accreditation has opened up the avenue to use the cooperative movement as one of the instruments to eradicate poverty and promote economic growth of the State, just as cooperative knowledge and skills development would be acquired in the institution for effective operation of cooperative businesses and accounts.
The Provost stated that the college will ultimately help young Nigerians to realise career aspirations and develop their potentials for the benefit of the state and the country at large.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State Cooperative College was established by the state government in 2012 to provide an enabling environment for the provision of sound Cooperative Education, Economic Empowerment and the acquisition of appropriate entrepreneurial skills to enable members run lucrative cooperative business.
