The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, on Wednesday, commended journalists in the State for their acts of professionalism and steadfastness in reporting issues in the state.
According to a statement signed by police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the CP made the commendation while receiving the executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos Council, led by its Chairman, Adeleye Ajayi at the state headquarters in Ikeja.
Odumosu appreciated the fourth estate of the realm for supporting the police in its tasks and fighting against the culture and spread of fake news in the state, as many journalists in the state endeavour to confirm stories before breaking and posting.

In his remarks, Ajayi applauded the Commissioner and his team in the command for their commitment to fighting crimes and criminality, and ensuring that the Nigeria Police Force is reformed to attain its professional status.
He however appealed to CP Odumosu to rebuke the policemen who have assaulted and harassed their members in one way or the other in order to make sure that justice prevails.
In his response, the police commissioner promised to protect all bona-fide members of the NUJ in the state and set machanism in motion to prevent them from police harassment and brutality.
