Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has sounded a stern warning against cultism and the harassment of teachers and school staff in public schools.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, called on parents and students to address these issues during the annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the ministry.

“Ramadan period is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the need to tackle bullying, cultism and harassment of teachers by students through the aid of miscreants,” Alli-Balogun stated, making it clear that unruly behavior in schools will not be condoned.
The Commissioner urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s upbringing and revive the communal spirit of correcting misbehaving children. “Ramadan period is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the need to tackle bullying, cultism and harassment of teachers by students through the aid of miscreants,” he said.
Alli-Balogun emphasized the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers to eradicate moral decadence. “Parents need to collaborate more with the teachers and schools so that moral decadence will be eradicated,” he advised.
The Guest Lecturer, Dr. Noah Lawal, a senior lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, Lagos State University, Ojo, delivered a comprehensive lecture on “Navigating the Challenges of Teenagers in Decadent Society; An Islamic Perspective.” He highlighted social vices like drug abuse, alcoholism, rape, kidnapping, cultism, disobedience, and examination malpractices as manifestations of decadence.

Alli-Balogun also encouraged students and pupils in Lagos State public schools to perform their best in external examinations, justifying the state’s investment in education. He appreciated the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in ensuring Lagos State’s success and positioning it as a reference point for other states.
