Lagos Cracks Down On Traffic Offenders, Miscreants Face Justice
Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State has taken a firm stance against traffic violations and public disturbances, as evident from recent convictions handed down by the magistrate court sitting in Oshodi.
In a move aimed at restoring order and ensuring public safety, the court issued verdicts against individuals involved in illegal activities on pedestrian bridges and highways.

According to the official Facebook page of Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Lagos State, a group of miscreants who had been extorting traders on a pedestrian bridge faced the consequences of their actions. The magistrate court found them guilty of “Breach of Public Peace and illegal collection of money from people with goods,” and Magistrate Oshikoya sentenced the defendants to one month in prison.
In a separate case, the court also convicted 17 defendants for crossing the highway and failing to utilize the designated pedestrian bridges. These individuals were found guilty and received a two-month prison sentence or the option of paying a fine of N7,000.
Mr. Wahab’s statement underscored the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order, as quoted: “The magistrate court sitting in Oshodi convicted the defendants for breach of public peace and illegal collection of money from people with goods. Magistrate Oshikoya sentenced the defendants to 1 month in prison.”
The convictions serve as a stern warning against disruptive behavior and a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations for the safety of all road users in Lagos State. Authorities aim to create a secure environment for pedestrians and motorists alike, ensuring that public infrastructure is utilized as intended.
