Consequently, the 24-year-old suspect, who hails from Kano State, was apprehended by officials after a whistleblower alerted them to the ongoing vandalism along the System 1 Odo Iya Alaro main stream at the Opebi Link Bridge.

Addressing the issue, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards vandalism.

“Over the years, theft and vandalism of government properties have become a target, a situation we can no longer condone,” he stated.

Furthermore, Wahab explained that the concrete barriers are strategically placed to separate drainage channels from encroachment, underscoring their importance in maintaining the city’s infrastructure.

Despite claiming that the barriers had fallen and denying knowledge of their purpose, the accused, along with two accomplices who remain at large, faced immediate arrest for their actions.
