Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, House of Representatives Member, Wale Raji, and Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom have commended the installation of the Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Akinloye as the Mayegun of Odo-Noforija kingdom of Epe, Lagos State.
Akinloye was installed at the Grand-finale of the 20th-anniversary celebration and birthday ceremony of His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja JP, FMBE which held on Sunday 2nd September, 2022, at the palace of the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija kingdom.
In his address, Hamzat cited the Eredo LCDA chairman’s morally upright principles and humility as catalyst for his honorary chieftaincy title.
He noted that the virtues of the Mayegun Of Noforija Kingdom have helped improve the socio-economic trajectory of the people of Eredo LCDA. He added that the LCDA chairman has proved his critics wrong despite spending a little more than a year in office.
“Respect for humanity, humility and uncommon dedication to service of the people are the hallmarks of any reasonable leader. These are so because when you are less concerned about the plights of your fellow human, going out of your way to cater for them would not be visible,” Hamzat said.
“The Eredo LCDA Chairman has displayed those principles and this has propelled him to change the narrative of governance in Eredo LCDA
“His administration is just a year plus and he has proved critics wrong in terms of service delivery across communities under his jurisdiction. Therefore, the Mayegun title befitting of his personality and this is no doubt a reward for his achievements in office.”
Similarly, the Alara of Ilara kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Olukayode Olufolarin Ogunsanwo stated that Akinloye deserved the Mayegun title, thanks to being a leader that walks his talk based on the human and financial resources he’s provided for the LCDA.
He also described Akinloye as a humble, compassionate, and honest leader that does not involve himself in stealing the people’s commonwealth.
“This honorary chieftaincy title is commendable. When you look around our dear Eredo LCDA, I don’t think that Baba Noforija made the wrong choice because such a critical title isn’t bestowed on looters or those in the habit of pilfering the coffers of the LCDA,” the monarch said.
“Kabiesi must have considered so many factors in terms of service delivery, humility, hard work and compassion for the people’s welfare before concluding to honour our amiable Chairman. This is because Hon Akinloye has over these past years distinguished himself among the committee of LCDA Chairmen simply because the works he has put in place are verifiable and impacting.
“I, therefore use this medium to congratulate him and his precious and very enterprising wife on the occasion of their enviable installation. I urge them to use the traditional office to do more for the people because they owe them a lot.”
Joining the speakers, Raji congratulated the chairman and his wife on receiving their chieftaincy titles.
He subsequently urged the couple to redouble their efforts to support the growth of the Odo-Noforija kingdom and Eredo LCDA by extension.
“I am sure the couple being installed today as the Mayegun and Yeye-Mayegun of Odo-Noforija kingdom are aware of the responsibilities that come with the honorary chieftaincy title. As the name of the title implies, they must continue to redouble their efforts towards ensuring that they support Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja in touching lives,” Raji said.
“The resolve to support the socio-economic prosperity of the Noforija people should extend to the entire communities in Eredo LCDA and I believe that the Chairman is capable of delivering the dividends of democracy to his people. So, I congratulate the couple and wish them a life-impacting service to the people.
