Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has distributed over 10,000 booklets of “My Passport of Rights” to several children in and out of schools in Lagos.
The agency distributed the booklets on Wednesday during a sensitisation programme it organised for the students of Kings College, Lagos.
The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the recently launched child-friendly booklet titled: “My Passport of Rights”, which is targeted at bringing awareness to the prevalence of child abuse, as well as providing useful information and resources for survivors, was an initiative that encapsulates the required information about SGBV.
She stated that the booklet was designed to educate and enlighten children on issues pertaining to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) as well as to broaden their development towards the needed knowledge, protection and advocacy.
“With this booklet, you are expected to gain adequate knowledge about SGBV as well as pass it on to others as ambassadors in the campaign against all forms of abuse in your homes, schools and environment,” the anti-violence agency boss said.
Vivour-Adeniyi further stressed that the booklet is not for sale and is available at the Agency, noting that it is a must-read for anyone who cares about the welfare of children and wants to make a difference in their lives as it is expected to inspire actions.
