The Lagos State Education District 1 has keyed into the Health and Environment initiative of the State Government with the establishment of a Recycling Club to encourage students to imbibe the habit of turning waste to wealth.
The Education District I Recycling Club is an initiative aimed at introducing students to a sustainable source of income through recycling while also eradicating health and environmental hazards across schools within the district.
The Coordinating Chairman of the Recycling Club, Education District I, Mr. Oludare Ayinde Akinyode, said that the training workshop held recently at Government Senior College, Agege, consists of students from Agege, Alimosho and Ifako-Ijaye areas of the District.

The Coordinator emphasised that the Club’s goal runs in line with the Lagos State T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, most especially on Health and Environment, which is hinged on improving the quality of the Environment and our public spaces in general.
He disclosed that competition has now been included as part of the workshop in order to sustain the interest participants and also promote healthy rivalry among the various participating schools.
The Recycling Club, Akinyode said, will immensely benefit students and provide an avenue for income through the conversion of waste materials to useful household items.
