Eko Hot Blog reports that in a move to further strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and the United States, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment in Lagos State, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, addressed a delegation of investors from Illinois at a reception organized by the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity in conjunction with the United States Small Business Administration.

Ambrose-Medebem emphasized that the event marked a significant milestone in the trajectory of Nigeria-American relations, which is based on advancing shared interests in various domains, including security cooperation, global health security, development and humanitarian response, economic growth, democracy, and respect for human rights. She underscored the significance of the event taking place in Lagos, stating that it was a big deal for the state.
During her address, the Commissioner extended a warm welcome to the Illinois investors, asserting that Lagos is open and ready for business. She invited the investors to join the state’s journey towards achieving “A Greater Lagos of Our Dreams,” promising that the endeavor would be most rewarding and prosperous for all involved.
Ambrose-Medebem’s remarks highlighted the Lagos State government’s focus on fostering an enabling environment for investment and economic growth. By actively courting foreign investors and touting the state’s investment-friendly policies and potential, the government aims to position Lagos as a prime destination for businesses seeking to tap into the vast opportunities available in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
