Lagos Film City Will Boost Export Of Local Talents, Attract Foreign Talents – Linus Idahosa

Eko Hot Blog reports that Mr. Linus Idahosa, the Founder and CEO of Del-York Group, has expressed excitement at the establishment of the Lagos Film City in Ejinrin, Epe Division, Lagos State.

Recall that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, led other leaders to break ground for the project, which it is believed will cost at least $100 million.

Delivering a speech at the event, Idahosa emphasized the global significance of such a project.

He noted that it would be a disservice to Nigeria not to have a facility like the Lagos Film City after exporting talents worldwide.

“Countries worldwide are diversifying their economies, focusing on the creative industry. For a country like Nigeria, which has exported talents worldwide, it is a mistake not to provide the facilities found in other countries for these same artists to entertain and create magic locally,” the Del-York group boss said.

“This is a clarion call for us to take ownership of the creative economy, the future of Nigeria. Artists can plug into actual production live on set, thereby helping to export the talents and content they produce. Additionally, this project, when completed, will attract local and foreign production houses from around the world.”

Recognizing the substantial investment required for this endeavour, Mr. Idahosa revealed that the Lagos Film City’s development will demand approximately $120 million for the first phase, with two additional phases requiring an estimated $400 million.

He also underscored the importance of partnerships with experts who have successfully built similar structures worldwide, mentioning Storyline Studios and Harry, both located in Europe.

Mr. Idahosa called upon the government to provide necessary tax incentives and rebates, crucial elements for attracting production houses to Nigeria.

He highlighted that the Lagos Film City project, upon completion, would not only provide employment opportunities for Nigerians but also facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Lagos Film City was not only a historic event for Ejinrin but a significant stride toward realizing the vision of Nigeria’s creative economy, an aspiration shared by Mr. Idahosa and many others committed to the industry’s growth and prosperity.
