Lagos Fire Service Provides Update As Fire Razes Three Buildings In Docemo

  • There has been a fire incident in the Docemo area of Lagos.
  • The fire affected three buildings and spread to a fourth building.
  • However, one of the buildings burnt beyond salvaging.

Eko Hot Blog reports that a fire has razed three buildings in the Docemo area of Lagos State.

The fire, which started Wednesday morning, affected house numbers 47, 49, and 51, according to the Lagos State Fire Service.

In a statement, the agency’s Director, Margaret Adeseye, said the intensity of the blaze had significantly reduced.

She also revealed that while the affected properties were three, the fire spread to a fourth building, house number 53, but it was no immediately clear the level of damage sustained by the building.

The Lagos Fire Service boss further disclosed that house number 49 collapsed due to the fire’s intensity and the close proximity of buildings.

“An update on the ongoing fire emergency in Docemo reveals a significant reduction in the intensity of the blaze,” Adeseye said.

“The affected properties are identified as house numbers 47, 49, and 51.

“Tragically, house number 49 has collapsed due to the fire’s intensity and the close proximity of buildings. Additionally, the fire has spread to house number 53.”

She added that emergency responders continued to work to contain the spread of fire, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency personnel.

“Emergency response teams continue to work tirelessly to contain the spread of the fire and protect surrounding properties in spite of combustible materials involved including fire crackers which are triggering at intervals,” the fire service boss stated.

“We urge residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency personnel.
