Lagos First Lady’s Easter Fiesta Instills Values, Spiritual Renewal In Children

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a heartwarming celebration of the Easter season, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, hosted school children from public, private, and special schools across the state at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
The event, attended by top government officials, aimed to commemorate the Easter festivities while imparting invaluable lessons to the young attendees.

Addressing the participants, the First Lady encouraged the children not to lose sight of the true significance of the Easter season amidst the pomp and pageantry. She urged them to imbibe “the spirit of tolerance, peaceful co-existence, and sacrificial lifestyle as demonstrated by Jesus Christ throughout His lifetime.”
Emphasizing the enduring message of hope, renewal, and redemption encapsulated in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Dr. Sanwo-Olu stated that the Family Easter Fiesta has evolved into a cherished annual tradition since its inception in 2021, symbolizing the essence of Easter through its enriching festivities.
With the theme “Power of Resurrection,” taken from Philippians 3:10, the First Lady explained that the event sought to “deepen participants’ spiritual connections and foster a renewed sense of faith and commitment.” She articulated the significance of this theme, highlighting its call for a deeper relationship with Christ amidst life’s trials and tribulations while instilling confidence in the promise of tomorrow’s blessings.
Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the wife of the Deputy Governor, echoed the sentiment, urging attendees, especially the younger generation, to exemplify the timeless virtues of tolerance, compassion, and selflessness displayed by Jesus Christ. She emphasized the pivotal role of children in shaping the future and encouraged them to honor their parents, pursue education with diligence, and uphold moral integrity as they navigate life’s journey.

The Commissioners for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, and Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for creating an avenue for children to enjoy the Easter celebration. They seized the opportunity to educate the children about Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s interventions in the educational sector and various initiatives aimed at promoting social welfare in the state.
The event featured a symbolic Easter drama and song presentation by the Lagos State Schools Theatrical Troupe, along with gifts, games, music, and other forms of entertainment for the children.
