A Lagos State based professional golfer from Ikoyi Golf Club, Francis Epe has emerged the winner of the inaugural invitational open championship organized in honour of the governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson.
Epe, who played 7 under par over 18 holes to emerge the overall winner, urged young Nigerians to make a career in the game of golf, Daily Trust reports.

The tournament had over 28 professional golfers drawn from five African countries of Zimbabwe, Gabon, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria.
Local professionals drawn from 13 states of the federation including; Rivers, Edo, Enugu, Delta, Cross River, Kogi, Niger, Abuja, Lagos, Osun, Abia, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa State also participated.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who officially inaugurated the state’s golf course, said it was in line with tourism development of the state and nation at large.
