Lagos Government Urges Youth Corpers to Foster National Unity
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has recently encouraged National Youth Service Corps members to use their service period to promote unity in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the unity of the country is crucial and that the youth play a vital role in achieving it.
The Governor, who was represented by Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, reminded the corps members that promoting unity is the primary objective of the NYSC.
In his words, “I would also like to remind you of the primary objective of the National Youth Service Corps to promote unity among the diverse ethnic groups of our great nation through its vibrant youth.
Therefore, strive to live in peace with those around you ensuring that this goal is upheld in your host communities”.
Similarly, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State advised the youth corpers to embrace the values of NYSC, which aim to foster unity among diverse groups in Nigeria.
He encouraged them to be accommodating, law-abiding, and to live harmoniously with their host communities.

He also urged them to stay positive and focus on building a solid foundation for their future.
The NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, also addressed the corps members.
She highlighted the various aspects of the orientation program, including leadership training, paramilitary drills, and skill acquisition.
She encouraged the 3104 corps members to accept their postings and give their best in their places of primary assignment.
The NYSC was established in 1973 to promote national unity, integration, and development in Nigeria.
The scheme aims to involve Nigerian graduates in efforts to fast-track the country’s development and strengthen its unity.
The program has been widely acclaimed as one of the most effective instruments in achieving a humane and egalitarian society.
