Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a swift response to a fire incident in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the indefinite closure of several markets in the state.
As reported, the governor’s directive comes after a fire engulfed four buildings in the Dosumu Street area, leading to the collapse of buildings.
The Special Adviser to the state Governor on Central Business Distress, CBD, Bola Olumegbon Lawal, announced the immediate closure and suspension of business activities in the affected markets and their environs. As quoted in the source, the measure has become necessary “to prevent possible loss of life and maintain peace and order in the area.”
The markets affected by the governor’s order include Dosumu, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Moshalashi, Woro Pedro, Obanikoro Streets, Ago Tawa, Idumagbo Avenue, Idumagbo, Ido – Oluwo, and Oju Olobun Streets.
This decisive action by the Lagos State Government underscores the priority placed on public safety and the need to ensure a swift response to emergency situations.
The indefinite closure of these markets aims to facilitate rescue operations and prevent further incidents that could endanger the lives of citizens.
