EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Government has released the diversion plan for a duration of four months commencing from Monday, October 18, 2021, Following the notification received from the Federal Ministry of Works on the reconstruction of Apapa/Oworonshoki Expressway.
The latest development was made known via a statement signed by the Lagos Statw Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, on Sunday.
Oladeinde stated that the construction schedule outlined in the notification from the Federal Government (FG) revealed that traffic will be diverted at the Gbagada/Berger axis for recycling and asphalt works at night on each day between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.
The commissioner further explained that during the asphalting process on both lanes of the road, a section of the chosen lane for construction (inbound or outbound) will be left free for motorists to minimise inconveniences, adding that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on ground to coordinate movement.
The commissioner, however, assured that signage with information on traffic directions will be hoisted by the FG on the outbound carriageway to Ibadan and inbound carriageway to Lagos to guide motorists on movement during the construction period.
Oladeinde, while expressing his gratitude to Lagos residents for their understanding and patience despite the several ongoing construction projects within the state, solicited more support and cooperation from Lagosians in order to achieve the Smart City dream for the state.
