EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Government has been honoured with no fewer than five awards at the 2021 International Arts and Crafts Expo (INAC).
The award ceremony was held at Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Abuja.
While receiving the awards on behalf of the state government, the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Oladusi Komolafe, who led the state’s delegation to the event, restated the commitment of the government to the promotion of arts and culture.
Komolafe said, “Lagos State is determined to forge ahead in the quest to continue to showcase its best of Arts and Cultural heritage to boost home-grown and international tourism.”
Also speaking, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, who spoke on the theme of the three-day event: ‘Networking Nigerian Arts and Crafts to the World’, said all avenues to showcase Nigeria’s strength in the best of arts, crafts, textiles, dance and drama will be explored to the fullest.

In his contribution, the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Reuben Abati, said Nigeria’s overdependence on oil has led to the neglect of the art and creative industry.
He, however, advocated urgent diversification of the nation’s economy, stressing that the art and creative sector is capable of generating huge and stable income for the country.
This online news platform reports that the annual event is a platform for showcasing the works of the creative industry in music, arts, crafts, textiles, dance, drama and cuisines across the federation.
