A Chrisland Schools’ student slumped and died at the venue of the school’s inter-house sports event on Thursday.

Her parents have suggested that the school was negligent in handling events that led to her death.
-
However, Chrisland Schools has denied wrongdoing in how it handled the late student’s slump.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Education has directed the temporary closure of Chrisland Schools, Opebi-Ikeja, following the reported death of a student of the School, Whitney Adeyemi.

The ministry’s directive was contained in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, on Sunday.
She said the closure was directed pending the outcome of a full investigation into the unfortunate incident.
Adefisayo, on behalf of the State Ministry of Education, commiserated with Mr. and Mrs. Adeyemi, parents of Whitney, and prayed for the repose of her soul.
“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends and acquaintance of Whytney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident,” the commissioner stated.
Earlier, Whitney’s father, Michael Adeniran, took to social media on Saturday night to demand a probe into the death of his daughter, calling on the Lagos government and the police to intervene in the matter.
He also demanded Chrisland explain what actually happened to his daughter, noting that she had no health condition or sickness as of the time the school bus picked her up for the event.
In a viral video, the mother of the deceased also alleged that her daughter was taken to an immunization centre instead of a hospital after she slumped.
In a statement on Sunday, Chrisland Schools said the deceased showed signs of sickness during the school’s inter-house sports event before slumping.
It noted that, after Whitney’s slump, she was rushed to the nearest medical facility where the doctor on duty administered oxygen and every aid possible on her.
The school said the deceased slumped in “public view and not under any hidden circumstances,” denying accusations of negligence.
Chrisland appealed to the Adeniran family to establish a “scientific verification” of the underlying cause of her death before her burial.

“As we await the outcome of an independent post-mortem process, we remain unwaveringly committed to supporting the family at this critical moment and pray fervently for the fortitude to bear her painful loss,” the school added.
