Lagos Govt Diverts Traffic For Lagos Women Run

Lagos State Government has rolled out traffic diversion plan to enable motorists commute easily during the annual Lagos Women Run slated for Saturday, November 9.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who said this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos, explained that the race route will be partially closed during the event.

The route starts from Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) inward Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Bonny Camp Bridge, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, and Onikan Roundabout to Mobolaji Johnson.

Consequently, alternative routes have been mapped to enable easy commuting.

Motorists heading to Third Mainland Bridge from Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue are advised to go through Bonny Camp to connect Onikan Underpass inward Marina Exit to access Force Road to link Outer Marina and Third Mainland Bridge to reach their destinations.

According to Osiyemi, motorists heading to Ikoyi Road from Apongbon are to use Odunlami Street to connect Igbosere Road and proceed to Moloney Street to access Ikoyi Road to continue their journeys.

“There will be minimal impact on traffic flow within these routes,” he said.

Osiyemi reiterated that all junctions and intersections from TBS to destination Mobolaji Johnson Arena would be blocked with barriers and manned by some officials to prevent other road users access to the main race corridor

He said this would also help minimise inconveniences for motorists and athletes.

The commissioner listed officials involved in the traffic management to include the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.

He implored motorists to be patient as the partial road closure was part of the traffic management plans for the race event.
