“This programme empowers parents to protect their children from abuse, including physical and sexual abuse, bullying, and more. It is led by experts in child safeguarding and protection,” Ladenegan-Oginni said.
The course covers key topics such as understanding child rights, addressing bullying and peer violence, managing challenging behaviors, applying positive discipline, and responding to disclosures of abuse. It also explores socio-cultural factors affecting child protection in Nigeria.
Ladenegan-Oginni noted that over 14,000 teachers, guidance counselors, and first responders had already completed safeguarding and child protection training, enhancing their ability to report and address abuse effectively.
“This certified online course aims to enlighten and equip parents with the tools to recognize and prevent abuse, fostering a safer environment for every child,” she added.
