Lagos Govt Reopens Parts Of Third Mainland Bridge After One-month Closure

Eko Hot Blog reports that the busy Third Mainland Bridge has reopened to traffic from 6pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement in a statement.

Recall that the federal government, on November 19, closed down four ramps connecting the Adekunle area to the Third Mainland Bridge for “comprehensive repairs”.

Osiyemi said the entire bridge is now fully accessible to the public with enhanced smoother connectivity and safe commuting following essential maintenance.

The Lagos transportation commissioner also thanked motorists and commuters for their patient over the past one month.

“We appreciate your patience during the temporary closure and understand the inconvenience it may have caused. The reopening reaffirms our commitment to infrastructure upkeep and public safety,” he said.

In October, the federal government commenced palliative repair of failed sections of the Third Mainland Bridge.

The repairs came after many Nigerians lamented the state of the 11.8-kilometre road.
