The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, made the disclosure during a recent meeting held with a World Bank Team in Alausa.

He stressed that the proposed involvement of the private sector in the building regulatory process in Lagos would be encapsulated in three major initiatives.

According to him, the three major areas are the Certified Accredited Programme, the Post-Approval and the Certificate of Structural Integrity, which are expected to enhance service delivery.

“Through these measures and starting from next year, we will be able to effectively partner with the private sector in the areas of project supervision and stage certification as well as assessment of the structural stability of buildings in areas where building collapse is prevalent as a pilot,” he said.
