Lagos Head Of Service Seeks Stronger Ties With State Assembly

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, hosted a delegation from the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen the relationship between the two bodies and prioritize the welfare of public servants in the state.

The meeting at the Conference Room, Public Service Office in Alausa-Ikeja, involved Hon. Oladele Ajayi, Chairman of the House Committee on Establishments and Training, and other committee members.

During the engagement, Agoro emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring adequate welfare and well-being for the state’s entire workforce. He was quoted as saying, “The main priority of the Office is to ensure adequate welfare and well-being of the entire workforce in the state, as the present administration led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would not rest on its oars in ensuring that there is adequate welfare for public servants.”

Agoro highlighted that the Office of the Head of Service serves as “the engine room of the entire public service in the state.”

To promote work-life balance and improve job satisfaction, Agoro revealed that Governor Sanwo-Olu has approved a flexible working hours policy. “Workers on GL 01–14 now work from home for two days a week, while officers on GL 15–17 work from home for one day a week,” he stated, adding that “the initiative was designed to promote work-life balance, enhance employee well-being, and improve overall job experience.”

The Head of Service expressed gratitude to Hon. Ajayi and the committee members for their visit, underscoring the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship between his office and the State House of Assembly.

In his remarks, Hon. Ajayi commended Agoro for prioritizing the welfare of public servants, stating, “It is only through such means that public servants will be able to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.” He further sought a continuous harmonious relationship between the two bodies.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and other management staff, as well as various House of Assembly members, including Hon. Femi Saheed, Hon. Tijani Suraj, Hon. Orekoya Abiodun, Hon. Apata Samuel, Hon. Aro Moshood, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen, Hon. Lawal Musbau, Mr. Tugbobo Ademola, and Mr. Sulaimon Afolajimi.
