The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Benjamin Ademuyiwa Eniayewun has tasked health workers in the various General Hospitals across the State on the delivery of effective and qualitative healthcare to every resident of the State, urging the workers to contribute their quota to ensure that Lagosians enjoy the best of healthcare services always.
Dr. Eniayewun gave the charge recently when he embarked on a familiarisation and assessment tour of some General Hospitals in the State.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the visit was a way of assessing some of the various challenges confronting government-owned hospitals with the aim of proffering solutions to the identified problems.
He said: “We know that there are challenges confronting healthcare delivery hence, this visit is to identify these problems in order to know the problems that could be addressed by the staff themselves through the cultivation of right attitude to work and the ones that require government intervention”.
He informed the health workers that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is passionate about the health of citizens and is making frantic efforts to provide adequate manpower and equipment required for the delivery of qualitative healthcare for everyone.
Eniayewun advised the hospital workers to continue to display a greater commitment to work, stressing that no contribution from any of the staff would go unrewarded or unrecognized.
On the issue of inadequate health personnel which were identified as a major challenge during the tour, Dr. Eniayewun disclosed that the Governor is earnestly looking into the matter and is poised to address the staff inadequacy in a very decisive manner.
He also used the opportunity of the visit to commend some health providers who had distinguished themselves in the course of carrying out their duties and for generally contributing to the transformation of Government Hospitals in Lagos State.
The general hospitals so far visited by the Permanent Secretary include Isolo, Randle Avenue, Mushin, Yaba, Somolu as well as Harvey Road Health Centre among others.
