Lagos Initiates Probe Into House Of David Church Fire

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has commenced an investigation into the recent fire outbreak at the House of David Church in the Ikeja Local Government Area, aiming to ascertain the cause of the incident.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency shared this information in a statement released on Thursday through Ololade Agboola, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

According to the statement, a committee, including members from the affected church, will lead the investigation into the regrettable situation.

The State Fire and Rescue Service will oversee this comprehensive inquiry.

The state Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Gbenga Oyerinde, emphasized the commitment to a thorough investigation.

Oyerinde, who visited the scene accompanied by Margaret Adeseye, the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, expressed empathy for the incident.

The fire crews from Alausa and Ikeja encountered challenges due to the church’s flammable components, causing the rapid and intense spread of the fire.

The Commissioner assured that the investigation committee, with input from the church representatives, aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The statement read, “Oyerinde assured that a comprehensive inquiry into the unfortunate incident would be conducted by a committee of stakeholders, including church representatives, under the guidance of the State Fire and Rescue Service. This collaborative effort aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.”

Adeseye highlighted the difficulties faced by the fire crews, emphasizing the combustible materials within the church that contributed to the swift spread of the fire.
